Gkrellm-HwMonBat is meant as a replacement for the default battery meter in the GKrellM system monitor. It looks like the default battery monitor, however it can also show time remaining and power consumption in watts. On old kernels which don't provide the /proc/acpi/battery interface, one can (at least on thinkpads with tp-smapi installed) use Gkrellm-ThinkBat.
Installation:
Grab the latest version here. With gtk2.0-dev package or equivalent installed, it should be enough to type:
$make; make install
This copies the gkrellm-hwmonbat.so to the ~/.gkrellm2/plugins/ directory. Once loaded, check the "Show estimated remaining time and power consumption" box in the configuration.Screenshots:
